What does an African band have to do with Bavarian folk dance?
Diversité is a band made up of six members that has developed, along with three dancers, an amazing show. "Nomvula" pays homage to Africa. A new kind of world music that we have conceived together - a mixture of soul, African rumba, afro-beat, jazz, classical music, and inspired by the very spirit of Africa.
Our dancers are Yahi Gahe Nestor, who performed as a choreographer and dancer in the show “Afrika! Afrika!” by André Heller, Hippolyte Bohouo, and Marie- Chance Anastasie Gonebli, both also known from the latter show.
The highlight of our show is the mixture of gumboot dance and Schuhplatteln, a traditional Bavarian dance. The similarity of these dances seems to us so striking that it enables us to show and enhance our idea of unity in diversity.
